Earning a Business Degree in Cyprus

According to Cyprus' Higher Education website, the country's tertiary education system is heavily influenced by the European Higher Education Area as defined by the Bologna Process. Consisting of private and public universities, Cyprus' higher education programs are regulated by the Department of Higher and Tertiary Education, which also establishes curriculum specifics and tuition costs for public institutions.

Students may earn Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate business degrees specializing in various aspects of the business and financial industry. Examples of degrees offered include the popular Master's of Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Tourism Management, Financial Management/Investment and Marketing Strategy.

Tuition Fees

Yearly tuition costs at public universities may vary from one school to another. Scholarships are available at most public institutions as well as postgraduate subsidies for students electing to work as instructor assistants, lab supervisors and tutors. Private university fees may be significantly higher than public university tuition so students considering a private school should check with the particular school in which they are interested for annual degree program expenses.

About Cyprus

Cyprus is an island country surrounded by the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and situated north of Egypt, south of Turkey, east of Greece and west of Turkey. Business students studying in Cyprus will discover that the northern part of Cyprus is officially called the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Because of this division, Cyprus has established Turkish and Greek as its official languages, with Cypriot Maronite Arabic and Armenia as minority languages.

Supported by a thriving tourism industry, Cyprus has a high, per capita income and an increasingly developed economy that ranks among the top 20 on the Human Development Index. Cyprus joined the EU in 2004 and the Eurozone in 2008. Consequently, the Euro is the currency in the Republic of Cyprus but not in northern Cyprus, where the Turkish lira is still used. Due to massive growth in Cyprus' real estate market over the past decade, students earning specialized business degrees oriented around investing, developing, selling and purchasing property in Cyprus will generally find the job market receptive and flexible in Cyprus.
