About Mauritius

Mauritius is known as a well established area of Africa and boasts one of the country’s highest per capita incomes. This is mostly due to the city’s flourishing financial, industrial and tourist industries. The area continues to grow, which is evident in its thriving businesses, improved infrastructure and increased GDP. These advancements have contributed to the continued investments that are being made into the country. Considering all of these factors, it is easy to see why studying business in Mauritius could be beneficial.

Study Business in Mauritius

There are a number of different schooling options available in Mauritius. There are both public colleges and private institutions to choose from. Both types of schools offer various degree types, including business, as well as the ability to study on campus or online. Students can pursue undergraduate as well as postgraduate degrees at many of the schools.

The academic year is broken down into two semesters. The first semester, which some would consider the fall semester, begins in mid-July and ends in mid-December. The second semester, also called the spring semester, begins the beginning of January and concludes at the end of May. This is normal for both in-person and online studies.

The cost of attending school in Mauritius varies according to each individual situation. A number of different factors weigh in and alter the cost. For instance, attending a public institution versus a private school will cost different amounts, and the private schools do not cost the same. Added to the tuition costs are additional expenditures such as books, supplies, room and board, and more. Depending upon an individual’s particular situation the price can significantly vary.

Similar to institution costs, depending upon an individual’s unique situation the time it takes to attain a degree may fluctuate. On average, if attending a university full time it should take four years to complete a bachelor’s degree, two years to gain a master’s degree and three years to attain a doctoral degree. However, students attending school part-time will take longer, while those on accelerated tracks may be able to finish sooner.

Mauritius is a thriving city with a strong business culture. As such, studying business in this area will not only give students the knowledge they need to be successful in the business world, but will also allow them to learn firsthand from those who are succeeding in various industries. This would give graduates a well-rounded experience and knowledge base to pull from. Those who choose to work while in school also get the added bonus of putting their skills to work and gaining valuable job experience that can help them as they enter the job market.
