It has one of the highest per capita incomes of any country in the world. Sweden is known for its beautiful mountain ranges, stunning coastline and high life expectancy for its people. The people of Sweden enjoy a universal healthcare system with a focus on natural treatments. The country is bordered by Norway, Finland and the Baltic and North Seas. The mild climate and abundant natural resources, including iron ore and timber, add to its benefits.

Business Studies in Sweden

Sweden's higher education programming is known throughout the world as one of the best. The Academic Ranking of World Universities placed three Swedish universities among the top 100 in the world. Schools use a unique educational model focused on building relationships between teachers and students, allowing student to work in groups instead of always under the direction of professors. This innovative teaching structure creates critical thinkers that are an asset to their future employers.

Students are drawn to Swedish schools because of this high quality education, the affordability of education in Sweden and the high quality of living the Swedish people enjoy. Sweden has over 600 masters programs taught in English, and these programs draw around 30,000 international students each year.

Swedish education is free for Swedish, Swiss and European Union students. Each university sets its won cost for other international students, but the average is SEK 80,000 to 140,000 a year. International students can apply for scholarships to help cover this cost. Those studying in Sweden who live in developing countries can apply for scholarships that cover tuition as well as living expenses.

Swedish universities use an academic year made up of two semesters that are 20 weeks in length. The first semester runs from August through January, followed by a second semester from January through June. Business studies can fall into one of two masters degree programs. The masterexamen is a two-year degree program offered through research universities, while the magisterexamen takes one year and is awarded through any of Sweden's universities.

Because of the innovative thinking encouraged through the Swedish university system, International students find their job opportunities are strong after graduating with a business degree. Students are welcome to stay in Sweden, or they can venture into other countries and use their new business learning to start a successful career.
